How this site is built

Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We would rather publish the gaps we know about than claim we have none.

What we hold to

All text meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against its background, in both the light and dark themes. The lightest text is used only for labels — never for anything you have to read closely. Nothing renders below 11px.

Every interactive target is at least 44 by 44 pixels, and focus is always visible. Nothing is hidden behind a hover, and every page’s content is served fully rendered, so it reads with JavaScript switched off.

Motion is additive: content is at full opacity before any script runs, and if you have asked your system to reduce motion, nothing moves at all.

Colour never carries meaning on its own. Where we use it to show status, there is always a word beside it.

What we know is not right yet

This section is honest and it is meant to be maintained. As of our first audit:

• Some controls need JavaScript. The page text always reads without it, but the mobile menu, the light/dark switch, and sign-in only work with JavaScript on. On a phone with JavaScript disabled, the menu at the top won’t open — though the links in the footer still will.
• Dark mode is new. It passes our spot checks for contrast, but it has not yet been through the same full, element-by-element audit as the light theme.
• Menus don’t fully trap focus. The account and mobile menus close on Escape and on a click outside, but they don’t yet move focus into the menu or offer arrow-key navigation.
• A couple of pages skip a heading level. Our terms and privacy pages jump from a first heading to a third-level one; we are correcting them.
• No automated check yet. We test by hand, not with an automated gate in our build, so a regression could slip in between audits.
